Lawyer and Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has described the recent developments surrounding the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary as unfortunate, stressing the need for a shift toward transformational leadership within Ghana’s political system.
Speaking in an interview on Atinka TV’s Ghana Nie, Mr. Sosu said the events at Ayawaso East should not have occurred and reflect deeper structural challenges in the country’s political processes.
“Leadership must be transformational and not transactional. What happened at Ayawaso East was very unfortunate and should not have happened,” he stated.
According to him, the controversy is symptomatic of broader systemic issues that require urgent review and reform.
“What happened at Ayawaso East recently is a direct reflection of the kind of political systems we have. There is a need to take a careful look at it so we can review it,” Mr. Sosu added.
He urged political parties and stakeholders to strengthen internal democratic processes and promote ethical leadership to restore public confidence and ensure fairness in party primaries and national elections.
Mr. Sosu’s comments add to growing calls from civil society and political leaders for accountability and reforms aimed at safeguarding the integrity of Ghana’s democratic institutions.
