SONA 2026

President John Dramani Mahama has praised the Inspector General of Police (IGP)  Christian Tetteh Yohuno and his officers for recent successes in bringing dangerous criminals to justice, noting that public trust in the Ghana Police Service is on the rise.

Delivering his State of the Nation Address, he urged the IGP and his team to “keep up the standard,” while announcing significant upgrades to Ghana’s security infrastructure.

The police service has received 40 armored vehicles and 100 pickup trucks to enhance operational capacity.

Other security agencies, including the Fire Service, Prisons Service, Immigration Service, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), and the Narcotics Control Commission, will also be retooled to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

President Mahama said the investments demonstrate the government’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement and protecting the safety of Ghanaians nationwide.
