Richard Essah has been elected Communication Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ayawaso Central Constituency after winning the position in the party’s 2026 constituency executive elections.

Essah secured 391 votes to beat three other contenders in a keenly contested race. Walter Quarshie placed second with 354 votes, while Amoah Richard Ken Nana Gyasi obtained 247 votes. Adio Bashiru received 240 votes.

The newly elected Communication Officer brings to the position years of experience in media, business, community engagement and grassroots politics.

Richard Essah has worked in the media industry and rose from a Sales Representative to Key Account Sales Manager at Atinka Media Village. He holds an MPhil in Industrial and Organisational Psychology from the University of Ghana, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Theatre Arts.

His political journey dates back to 2004, with experience as a polling agent, campaign organizer and grassroots mobilizer within the NPP.

Beyond politics and media, Essah is also an entrepreneur and farmer with interests in cocoa, ginger and palm cultivation.

His victory places him at the centre of the party’s communication efforts in Ayawaso Central as the Party prepares to strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of future political activities to win back the seat from the ruling National Democratic Congress.
