The campaign team of former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has declared its support for former NPP General Secretary John Boadu in the ongoing race for the party’s National Chairmanship.
The team says its decision is based on its confidence in Mr. Boadu’s experience, leadership qualities and ability to unite the party as it works towards regaining power in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Administrator of the Wontumi Campaign Team, Denise Okyere Danso, explained that the endorsement followed a careful assessment of the various contenders and their capacity to lead the party at this critical stage.
According to him, John Boadu’s extensive experience within the NPP, coupled with his understanding of the party’s structures and grassroots operations, makes him well positioned to provide the leadership the party requires.
He stressed that the next National Chairman must be a unifying figure capable of bringing together members across different factions, strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and mobilising the rank and file towards the NPP’s return to power in 2028.
The Wontumi Campaign Team believes Mr. Boadu possesses the institutional knowledge and political experience needed to help the NPP rebuild following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Ms. Danso further appealed to NPP delegates to place the broader interests of the party above individual considerations when choosing the next National Chairman.
He said the party needs a leader who can bridge internal divisions, promote unity and provide a clear sense of direction ahead of the 2028 elections.
