Tottenham Hotspur winger Mykhailo Mudryk is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury in training.
The 25-year-old Ukraine international sustained the injury on Monday and is currently understood to be wearing a protective boot.
Reports indicate that Mudryk could be out for around six to eight weeks, with a return in October considered possible.
The injury comes just days after Mudryk made his first competitive appearance in almost two years.
He came on as a 74th-minute substitute in Tottenham’s goalless draw against Nottingham Forest on September 5, marking his return to senior football after a lengthy absence.
Mudryk joined Tottenham from Chelsea on a season-long loan on deadline day after being cleared to return to competitive football in July following the resolution of his anti-doping case.
His latest setback is another blow for Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, who had hoped to gradually build Mudryk’s fitness following his long absence.
The injury is expected to keep the winger out of several upcoming fixtures and could also rule him out of Ukraine’s international commitments during the period.
Mudryk’s absence will further reduce De Zerbi’s attacking options as Tottenham look to improve their fortunes early in the season.
