The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has identified 20 mobile loan applications operating without the requisite licence or authorisation to provide digital credit services in the country.
In a public notice dated September 8, 2026, the central bank said the affected applications were operating in contravention of the Directive for Digital Credit Service Providers in Ghana, issued in September 2025.
The BoG said the notice forms part of its continued efforts to sanitise the digital credit space and protect consumers from entities providing digital credit services without regulatory approval.
The unlicensed loan applications listed by the Bank are:
- Cascredit
- Cash Future
- Cash Cedi
- Cashpal
- Cashpal Pro
- CreditGo
- Funds Credit
- Glow Credit
- Moni Wave
- MoniLend
- Nova Cedi
- Onua Loan
- Quick Cedi
- Sika Boost
- Sika Credit
- Sompa Loan
- Sune Credit
- Swift Lend
- Target Credit
- Zoom Advance
The Bank reiterated that the operations of such entities constitute significant violations of customer data privacy, consumer protection and established regulatory standards.
It said it would continue to collaborate with relevant state institutions to identify, investigate and take appropriate enforcement action against unlicensed digital credit providers.
The BoG has consequently urged the public not to engage with unlicensed loan providers.
It also cautioned banks, Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions (SDIs) and Payment Service Providers (PSPs) against facilitating or processing transactions on behalf of unlicensed loan providers.
Members of the public who become aware of the activities of unlicensed loan providers have been encouraged to report them to the Fintech and Innovation Department of the Bank of Ghana.
The Bank provided the department’s contact details as 030 273 9650, with complaints and reports also accepted via fintech@bog.gov.gh and digitalcredit@bog.gov.gh.
