VP Bawumia releases 365 vehicles, 493 motorcycles to education offices

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has released 365 vehicles and 493 motorcycles to Metropolitan, Municipal, District directorates of the Education Service today, March 12, 2020 at the Independence Square.
The vehicles which are a part of a strategic approach in resourcing the overstretched supervision, monitoring and evaluating activities is to help ensure that every Ghanaian child has quality education.
The 365 Isuzu double carbine pickups are part of an overall 840 pickups earmarked for the education sector. A total of 260 vehicles are for the GES Metro, Municipal and District directorates.
Also, the 493 motorcycles are part of an overall 2000 earmarked for the activities of circuit supervisors.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Bawumia noted that it is the vision of the President of Ghana,  Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo that if Ghana is to develop and progress, its human capital must be developed, adding that the ‘Free SHS Policy’ is key to this initiative.
He added that the NPP government does not only want to put children in school, but to also ensure that they put up more robust actions to achieve quality outcome.
According to him, directors of education play critical Frontline roles by ensuring adequate supervision, policies work especially at the district level, therefore the need to support them with the vehicles.
