Essikado/Ketan: NDC candidate going to court over "cooked" figures

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for the Essikado/Ketan Constituency in the Western Region, Dr. Grace Ayensu Dankwa, has threatened to contest the parliamentary results in her constituency in court.

Although the results of the parliamentary elections declared by the EC went in favour of the incumbent Member of Parliament Joe Ghartey, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Dr. Grace Ayensu Dankwa has fiercely opposed the outcome, arguing that she is the winner of the election, per collated results in her possession.

The Electoral Commission declared the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for the 2020 elections, Joe Ghartey winner of the Parliamentary elections for Essikado/Ketan Constituency.

Joe Ghartey, who is also the Railway Minister, retained the seat which was keenly contested by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Candidate, Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah.

In an interview with host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive Ekourba Gyasi, Dr. Grace Ayensu Dankwa said Joe Ghartey rigged the elections and that she will not rest until justice is served at the court of law.

She accused Joe Ghartey of using militia men to terrorize her and prevent her from entering the collation center with her collated results.

“ I am going to court, The seat is not his. He should respect the will of the people, I will not sit back and allow Joe Ghartey to use his political power and vigilante might to kill the peole of Essikado just because he can’t stand the fact that he has lost this very election”, she said.
