#FixTheCountry convener charged with treason felony; denied bail

An Ashaiman District court hearing a case of treasonable offences against the Fix The Country Conveyor, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has adjourned sittings to the 28th of February 2022.

The court presided over by her ladyship Eleanor Kakra Botchwey admitted that the court had no jurisdiction to grant a bail considering the magnitude of the matter before the court.

State Prosecutor DSP Sylvester Asare reading the charges against Mr Vormamor said, the Fix the Country Conveyor was charged with treason felony following a social media post in which he sought to create the impression of staging a coup if the E-Levy is passed, a statement that warrant to treason.

Lawyer for Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Akoto Ampaw also argued the court had no locus to grant his client bail and will seek for other options available to them.

Meanwhile there was heavy security presence at the Ashaiman District court during the bail hearing this morning.

This was necessitated by the huge turnout of members of the pressure group Fix The Country, who had come to the court to offer support for their leader.
