Some retired Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) members, past presidents of the association, veteran journalists, and senior editors have praised the GJA’s current Executives for refurbishing its secretariat, the Ghana International Press Centre.
This was when the GJA organised a Retirees Forum in Accra on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
Since it assumed office in June 2022, the new Executives of the GJA made it known to its key partner stakeholders of their intention to change the look and feel of the Press Centre.
All too soon, the GJA has started work at the Press Centre.
On Tuesday, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) engaged retired members, past presidents of the Association, veteran journalists, and senior editors to find ways of including them in the activities and programmes of the GJA.
The engagement was part of the efforts of the GJA to make all veterans and senior editors part of its all-inclusive Administration.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the National Media Commission (NMC), Yaw Boadu- Ayeboafo commended the GJA for the good work it has done since it assumed office.
He said the refurbishment of the Press Centre will send a good signal out there that journalists also care about their well-being.
He also underscored the need for stakeholders to support the GJA’s vision to transform the Association.
The Director of Communications at Melcom Ghana, Mr. Godwin Avenorgbo, was also impressed with the refurbishment of the Press Centre.
He noted that for over a decade, there had not been any major changes at the GJA Secretariat, saying that they need to be supported.
