Abii National Savings and Loans, a subsidiary of the Tobinco Group has been adjudged the Best Savings and Loans Company of the Year at the 2nd Ghana Credit Excellence Awards.
The award won by Abii National was based on its sterling performance in 2020 in the heat of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event was put together by the Chartered Institute of Credit Management-Ghana (CICM-Ghana).
A survey was conducted on 36 companies within the financial and credit space to examine their performance in the wake of the pandemic. Eight (8) out of the 36 companies were shortlisted for various awards. Abii National Savings and Loans was among the 8 companies that were awarded on the night.

The Managing Director of Abii National Nana Yaw Okyere-Aduachie thanked their customers and the Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group, Elder Nana Amo Tobbin 1 and his wife, Mrs. Mercy Araba Sika Tobbin for the support. He added that the reason they won the award was based on the fact that their non-performing loans for the year 2020/2021 stands at 2% compared to that of other industry players which currently stands at 26%.
“What it means is that over 98% of our loans are performing well” he said and indicated that the award will motivate them to work harder in the years ahead.
The Chartered Institute of Credit Management- Ghana has been running the award scheme since 2019. The maiden edition of the award scheme was held in 2019 but in 2020 due to the impact of COVID, organizers had to put the event on hold.
