Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has urged the management to enhance their procurement process to achieve significant savings.
Speaking at his swearing-in ceremony as the new Board Chairman of the Electricity Committee of Ghana (ECG), he emphasized that refining procurement strategies would enable the company to reinvest savings into improving services and infrastructure, fostering a cycle of efficiency and growth.
“Let us explore options to refine our procurement processes and cut costs. By reinvesting these savings into better services and infrastructure, we can create a virtuous cycle of efficiency and growth,” he stated.
Furthermore, Afenyo-Markin encouraged the adoption of innovative financing instruments, such as green bonds. He highlighted that these tools would not only support infrastructural upgrades but also align with global sustainability trends, contributing to a greener future for Ghana.
“Investing in our workforce is essential. By providing comprehensive training programmes and a performance-based rewards system, we can boost employee morale and productivity. And by enhancing safety standards, we can reduce workplace incidents and create a culture of excellence.
“Finally, let us prioritise regulatory compliance and transparency. By fortifying our compliance office and developing mechanisms for regular public reporting, we can enhance trust and accountability,” the Effutu lawmaker added.
