President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Former President Mahama have signed a peace pact ahead of the December 7, 2020 elections.
The two flagbearers of the major political parties, New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) signed the peace pact at the third high level meeting of the presidential elections peace pact 2020 held in Accra on Friday, December 4th 2020.
Present at the event were the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Jean Mensa, the Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, Members of the National Peace Council, Former Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the UK’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Iain Walker, the Secretary-General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States, Mohamed Ibn Chambas and others.
President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to ensure there is peace during the elections and as well charged the security agencies to ensure the environment is conducive enough to conduct a credible election.
Mr Mahama also called on Ghanaians to ensure peace before, during and after the elections.
