All new roads will be tolled – Ofori Atta

Minster for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, has announced the decision of government to take tolls on all new roads.

This move, according to Ken Ofori Atta, is to help government recover expenditure.

Roads And Highways Minister Kwasi Amoako-Attah directed that toll collection at the various toll booths across the country be halted on November 18, 2021.

“Government has abolished all tolls on public roads and bridges. This takes effect immediately the Budget is approved,” Ken Ofori-Atta said in Parliament in 2021.

In a latest development, Minster for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta said all new roads will be taxed to help government recover expenditure.

He made this revelation while presenting the mid-year budget review in Parliament on Monday July 25 2022.

“In spite of the underperforming revenue handles, we are not seeking additional funds in the mid year review. We are determined to efficiently use the windfall from the petroleum sector to make up for revenue shortfalls and aggressively improve our revenues.”

“The state of affairs is quite a painful one for me to report to you , it is hard to see our people lament about the prices of basic commodities , these are difficult times for government and indeed, for the Finance Minister,” Ken Ofori Atta said in Parliament.
