Ten illegal miners operating on River Birim at Anyinam in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern region have been arrested with their Changfan machines.
The suspects were apprehended in conjunction with the Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners taskforce and the Operation Halt Two team as part of their dawn operations to combat Changfan activity on the country’s rivers.
The operations were led by the Southern Commander Operations Halt Two team, commanded by Major General Amoah Ayisi.
The suspects were turned over to the police for further investigation and further action.
