Appointments Committee: I'm expecting a consensus- Member

A Member of the Appointments Committee vetting Ministers designate for Akufo-Addo’s Second Term, John Ntim Fodjour has expressed hope that there will be consensus in the reports by the committee.

According to him, a consensus in the reports will prevent controversies after the vetting is done.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie, hosted by Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu in a phone interview, the Mr Ntim Fodjour who is also the Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin South was of the belief that there will not be any controversy surrounding the ministers who have been nominated.

“After the vetting, I am expecting a lot of consensus to come considering qualifications, track records, integrity, their credentials and I believe there will not be any controversy,” he said.

He said the 26-member committee will vet the ministers based on their integrity, their credentials, track records, challenges of their respective ministries and how they intend to address them in the interest of the nation.

When asked if the Committee had received any petition on any of the ministers designate, Mr. Ntim Fordjour declined comment, saying everything will be done in the full glare of the public so that everyone will know how the minister designates perform.

He also said if there is a petition against someone, the Committee will investigate it and take further decisions in the interest of the nation.

“No petition will be disregarded, we will investigate it and make sure we arrive at a very fair position in the interest of the nation,” he said.
