Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 to win Copa America

Argentina beat Brazil at the Maracana in the Copa America final to deal their bitter rivals their first home defeat since the World Cup third-place playoff in 2014, thanks to a stunning Angel Di Maria goal.

The former Manchester United star lofted the ball over Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson to score the only goal of the game after 21 minutes with Argentina hanging on to win their first major tournament since 1993.

Argentina had lost seven consecutive finals since then, including back-to-back Copa Americas and a World Cup but finally ended it the hoodoo in Sunday (AEST).
