Bawku: Immigration officer shot dead; two others in critical condition

Three immigration officers, Assistant Inspectors Philip Motey of Missiga, Lawrence Afari of Kulungugu, and Eric Ayidiya of Pulimakom border post, were shot by unidentified assailants in front of the Bawku Police station in the Upper East Region on Monday. 

Reports indicate that the three Immigration Officers were in their vehicle when the incident occurred.

They were rushed to Bawku Presbyterian Hospital but Philip Motey was confirmed dead on arrival while the other two sustained gunshot injuries and are in critical condition.

Eric Ayidiya was transferred to Tamale Teaching Hospital on Monday but Lawrence Afari is still at Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.

 Both officers are currently responding to treatment. Meanwhile,  the body of Philip Motey is still at Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.

On the same 3rd April 2023,  One Imoro was also shot by unknown gunmen in Bawku.

The incident occurred around 5:10 pm. No arrest has been made yet.

It is unclear why the immigration vehicle was shot at by unknown gunmen on its way to the Missiga station in Bawku.
