Calls for Ofori Atta’s resignation ‘bogus’ – Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Leader in Parliament, has described calls by the Minority for the resignation of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Attah, as bogus and uncalled for.

The Minority in Parliament led by Haruna Iddrisu  on  Wednesday called on President Akufo-Addo to sack Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta for breaching aspects of the law in the issuance of the $2.25 billion bond in 2017.

He stated that the minority through a motion of censure, per Article 82 of the Constitution, will ensure that the minister is removed from his position.

However, speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensa Bonsu stated that Ghanaian politics have been reduced to the extent that anybody can organize a press conference at any time to express his or her frustration.

“It has become a norm for our brothers to call for press conferences even when they dream and want the world to know,“he added.

According to him, the Minority  are  positioning themselves as people who are not interested in the progress of the nation.
