The Chief Priest of Prampram Traditional Area in the Greater Accra region, Nii Aye Charway Laabia has imposed a ban on the celebration of their annual Kpledzoo festival which comes off next week.
The imposition of the ban follows recent confusion and skirmishes that was recorded in the aftermath of a purification rites performed by some persons to pave way for the celebration of the festival.
In a joint statement released by the Chief Priest of the Prampram traditional area and that of the stool father to the Prampram paramouncy, Numo Osabu II, it directed all indigenes in the area to adhere to the new directive and be informed that the chief priest who is mandated customarily and legally to perform any purification or customary rites to pave way for the celebration of this year’s Kpledzoo festival in Prampram, has not performed the said rites due to the tension in the area.

The statement also states categorically that no individual or person has been enstooled or installed as a chief for the area.
It asked persons parading themselves as chiefs of Prampram to desist from such since their action is fanning the already volatile chieftaincy disputes in the Prampram Traditional area following the murder of the Mankralo for the paramouncy some months ago. Nii Aye Charwey per the statement also want the various security agencies to ensure persons bent on creating confusion and violence in the Prampram area are dealt with.
