Wife of Fallen Ghanaian Footballer, Christian Atsu, Marie Claire Rupio has arrived at the final funeral rites of Atsu to pay her last respect to her husband.
Atsu’s Wife was not seen at the one week observation of Atsu which was held at the Adjiringanor Astro Turf on Saturday, March 04, 2023.
This got many Ghanaians questioning her absence.
However, the family of Atsu said they were in constant contact with Marie Claire Rupio and assured that she will be around during his funeral.
Marie Claire Rupio was seen together with Atsu’s children and some family members at the funeral today, Friday, March 17, 2023 at the forecourt of the Statehouse.
Christian Atsu, 31, was a victim of the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria.
He played for Hatayspor, the day before the 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck. The devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria claimed the lives of over 46,000 people.
12 days after the incident, Atsu was found dead.
On Sunday night, February 19, 2023, Atsu’s body arrived in Ghana via Turkish Airlines.

A number of Ghanaians went to the statehouse as early as 5 a.m to pay their last respect to fallen Ghanaian footballer, Christian Atsu Twasam.
Politicians, footballers, musicians, actors, family, friends and sympathizers could not hold back but to attend the final funeral rites of Atsu on Friday, March 17, 2023.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Former President, John Dramani Mahama, Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare, presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong and other great personalities went for the funeral.
