Church of Pentecost -Teshie Nungua launches peace campaign

The La Area Head of the Teshie Nungua District of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Alfred Kodua, has said, the Church’s seemingly silence on recent violence that has characterized political activities, is due to the police inability to expose the wrong doers.

According to him, the church must not be seen as being bias in their utterances, hence the no show of criticism on their part.

He made the remarks during the launch of the Teshie Nungua area’s version of the Agent of Peace Campaign in the Krowor Constituency of the Accra region.

The launch of the Agent of Peace Campaign, was a replica of a similar launch held at the National level of the church last week.

The event at the Agnes Boahema auditorium, was graced by the clergy, muslim leaders and politicians.

Special prayers were held by the congregation for peace before, during and after the December 7th elections. Dignitaries who mounted the podium also preached about the need to maintain peace ahead of the elections.

Apostle Dr Alfred Kodua, said the campaign will go a long way to foster peace among the various political actors in the country, stressing on the need for the public to be cautious in criticising the church on its silence on some national issues.

Deputy Health Minister and MP for the Ledzokuku Constituency, Dr Okoe Boye, pledged government’s commitment to ensuring peace in this year’s general elections.

He said the NPP has done exceedingly well in government and will campaign on its achievement and not violence.

The NDC chairman of the the Krowor Constituency, Willinda Randy Bortey, also urged the church not to be scared in exposing known persons who are fomenting trouble in the country, since that will go a long way to help tackle violence in elections.

He promised the NDC in the area will also do its best to protect members from any harm or attacks.

The Agent of Peace Campaign, an initiative of the church of Pentecost, is expected to be replicated at the various Districts and local levels of the church.
