Coivid-19: TV and mattress stolen from covid-19 isolation center in Wa

Information reaching Atinkaonline.com is that thieves have broken into a covid-19 isolation centre in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region and made away with a TV set and a mattress.
Confirming the matter, the Acting Upper West Regional Director of the Ghana health services Dr. Damien Punguyire said this came to their notice on Monday, which according to him has been reported to the Wa Municipal Assembly and Ghana Police Service to bring the perpetrators to book.
He made this known when he briefed the media on the covid-19 status in the Upper West Region, as the region has recorded ten (10) new cases.
So far, the number of cases in the region is,32 out of which 22 persons have fully recovered and discharged.
Six(6) districts in the Upper West Region has now reported at least one covid-19 cases.
A total of 2,303 laboratory surveillance persons in the region have been investigated with laboratory tests conducted through the combination of enhanced and routine surveillance system, with no deaths recorded.
Dr. Damien Punguyire recommended that all religious leaders, traditional leaders, public and private institutions observe all the recommendations announced by the president on social gathering, the frequent washing of hands with soap under running water and the proper wearing of nose masks when going to public places in other to prevent the spread of the disease.
Meningitis
Meanwhile the the Upper West Region has recorded four (4) more deaths in meningitis cases according to the Regional Director of health services, bringing the deaths toll to 48 with 356 suspected cases reported in the region.
While no district has reached an epidemic threshold, only few districts continue to report sporadic cases weekly.
He urged all persons who have symptoms of meningitis to report early to the nearest health facility for treatment.
