In an interview with Atinka TV, he said,“Ghanaian Movies are full of Totaa…. Totaa noise making. This style of Ghanaian movie won’t be found in this American collaboration movie, ‘Coming to Africa’. It is essentially different from all movies that we have been seeing on screen. It is a movie that fully talks about the culture of Africa.”

He continued,”The title explains itself. It gives deep suspense on what actually is in Africa. Those out there in the Diaspora, when they see it, they will actually follow.”

Aside from the American producer, most of the characters found in the film are Ghanaians.

David Dontah again explained why Nadia Buari spoke the local dialect in the movie. He said, as part of Ghanaian culture, our language is essential when it comes to portraying the culture.

“Nadia is a Fanti and as matter of fact her Twi aspect made it interesting and exciting. When we were young, we used to watch Indian and Chinese films that we don’t even understand the language yet we followed with captions. It is the same way the whites will cope, it is a matter of the quality of pictures, sound, Directing and everything. Precisely the story,”he said.

He said, despite the lack of cinemas to show movies in Ghana, there will still be a premier of Coming to Africa at the Silverbirds Cinema at the Accra Mall and the West Hills Mall.

For her part, Nana Ama Mcbrown said it was a nice opportunity working with a foreign collaborator.

“I love the fact that Anwar Jamison the producer of Coming to Africa brought his own style of movie despite the fact that Ghanaians love suspense and harsh movies. He is a calm guy and his behavior reflects in the movie that he Produced. The fact that he has a sound mind to produce a script, we also have the skills and ability to read, understand and reproduce what he needs. Looking at the cast, they are all calm and they match the director’s ability. All they needed was to read the script and understand it,” she said.

Nana Ama coninued,” Although the Producer’s understanding was extremely different, trust me, the movie is really nice. It talks about Ghana; it talks about the people and the culture. It will be very appropriate to have such foreign producers in our industry.
It will really help us. By then, I think most of the foreign producers will come to Ghana when we work hand in hand with this producer and welcome him very well by showing up at the movie premier at Accra Mall and west hills on this Friday coming 21st of this month and Kumasi 22nd.”
