Confusion in Parliament as NDC MPs take over Majority seats

The seventh parliament is expected to be dissolved tonight at exactly 12 am to pave way for the inauguration of the new members of the 8th parliament.

The swearing in of the new parliamentarians alongside that of the President Elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will take place tomorrow, Thursday January 7th 2021.

This is exactly a month after the 2020 elections which saw a lot of the NPP parliamentarians losing their seats to the NDC.

However, some NDC seats were also snatched by the NPP candidates.

Although the two parties had 137 respectively, the court today, January 6, 2021 placed an injunction on the MP elect for Assin North, Joe Quayson after his citizenship was challenged.

It is unclear what the consequences of the injunction can be in regards to who has majority or minority.

Meanwhile, before the inauguration of the members of the 8th Parliament, the NDC MP-elects have been seen occupying seats of the NPP MPs.
