Covid-19: 336 markets disinfected in Ashanti Region

The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has commenced the phase two Nationwide disinfection of market centers, lorry parks and toilet facilities in the Greater Kumasi Region.
The exercise forms part of Government’s interventions laid down to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the Country.
A total number of 336 markets centers, bus terminals and toilets facilities have been disinfected in the Ashanti Region.
It is being undertaken by waste management expert, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, with support from the military and police.
Speaking to the media after a short ceremony to officially commence the exercise, Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah pleaded with the traders at the various market centers to comply with the directives from the government for the exercise to be executed smoothly.
He indicated that, after the disinfection exercise today, a massive cleanup exercise will follow tomorrow to clean and tidy up the places.
The beneficiary markets included Dr. Mensah market 1 and 2, Adihye market, Central market B(Adum), Gawuso market, Kokotesua market.
