COVID-19: Church of Pentecost, Tobinco Group donate PPE to Health Ministry

The Church of Pentecost (COP) in collaboration with the Tobinco Group of Companies have donated 50 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) and alcohol based hand sanitizers worth ₵45,000 to the Ministry of Health to support government’s effort in the fight against coronavirus.
The items presented by Tobinco Group of Companies in collaboration with the Church of Pentecost (COP) include coveralls, nose masks, N95 Respirators, face shields, goggles, aprons, examination gloves, heavy-duty gloves, gumboots and Omal hand sanitizers, a product of Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Center.

The items  were received by the Deputy Minister of Health, Hon. Alexander Kodwo Kom Abban, on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at a stakeholders’ meeting to strategise at the Nursing and Midwifery front towards coronavirus at the Head office of the Nurses and Midwifery Council as part of the Company and the church’s support to the fight against the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the General Secretary of the church, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, the church has set aside a fund of GHS 100,000.00 to support efforts by government, out of which, the personal protective equipment (PPE) has been procured to support health officials who are front liners in the battle against the deadly virus.

During the period, he said the church has offered to foot the bill for car maintenance of  the 10 cinema vans, provide fuel, and allowances for the drivers who will be using the cinema vans for the public education exercise.
He also explained that the vans have Public Address systems fully fitted in them to serve the purpose of educating the general public about the deadly virus as well as the precautionary measures.
In a related development, the Chairperson of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana, Rev. Veronica Mina Darko, on behalf of the council, also donated 50-sets of personal protective equipment to the tune of ₵25,000.00 to the MoH for onward distribution to health officials across the country.

Speaking at the event, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost urged Ghanaians to stop complaining over the things we do not have, use the little we have in fighting coronavirus, and believe in God to deliver the nation out of the outbreak.
The Chairman who noted that staying at home is not a new thing in times of plagues also urged Ghanaians to pray and be obedient should Ghana get to a lock-down stage.
Mrs Eva Mensah, a Director at the Nursing and Midwifery Services (N&MSSs), Ghana Health Service (GHS) also encouraged nurses to do whatever they can to serve the people and to help deliver quality health services to them in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
She called on all Ghanaians to come on board to support the health service with resources, especially PPE so that they can deliver the best to the public in such trying times.
