Covid-19: Ghana records 76 new cases

Ghana has recorded 76 new cases of coronavirus bringing the total number of active cases to 620.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 48,200 with 47,260 recoveries. The death toll is pegged at 320.

This surge comes after the President for the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Frank Ankobea, mentioned that the country is likely to experience a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive Ekourba Gyasi, President for the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Frank Ankobea said  Ghanaians have abandoned the covid-19 safety protocols, a move he described as deadly.

He noted that Ghana should be worried about the second wave in other countries since it is likely to get into the country should we continue to ignore the covid-19 safety protocols.

” When notice that your friend’s beard is on fire, what do you do? You take precautionary measures to prevent yours from burning. GMA had a joint conference with the NCCE and we noticed that Ghanaians have abandoned the safety protocols citing a decrease in active cases as reasons. We had 2 cases in March but look at us now. Our politicians are also not helping matters. What happens when we all down after politics”, he added
