COVID-19: PNC flagbearer hopeful Samson Awingobit donates to the needy at Zenu

Flagbearer hopeful on the ticket of the People’s National Convention PNC, Samson Asaki Awingobit, has distributed food items to hundreds of residents in and around Zenu, a surbub of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region as the COVID-19 lockdown continues.
The donation, which was nearly marred by the huge turnout of residents from areas such as Zenu, Atta Deka, Community 22 and other  surrounding areas, after they threw out caution to observe the social distance directive, saw residents mainly the aged and the less privilege go home with bags of Rice, Beans, Gari and Millet.
Despite the availability of veronica buckets for beneficiaries to wash their hands, most residents could not hide their frustration of being lockdown in hunger.

The donation forms part of an initiative undertaken by Mr Samson Asaki Awingobit to support government’s social intervention programme aimed at mitigating the suffering brought upon the masses by the COVID-19 lockdown.
Speaking to the press after the donation, Mr. Awingobit said, he was motivated by the support from corporate agencies towards augmenting government’s effort in helping the vulnerable within this period. He called on government and private entities supporting the masses amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, to rather give out uncooked food in replacement of the hot meals, since one cannot guarantee the conditions under which these hot foods are cooked.
Meanwhile the Executive Secretary of the Importers and exporters association further said the donation will continue in the coming day since the masses are in dire need of such support.
