COVID-19: Test results of 71 staff of Coastal Quarries in Shama negative

Laboratory test results of 71 quarantined staff of Coastal Quarries in the Shama District of the Western Region has come out to be negative.
About two weeks ago, the blood samples of these persons were taken to Nugochi for test to determine if there is any strain of deadly coronavirus in their system following a confirmed case of a Chinese national and a worker of the company who returned to the country on March 21, 2020.
According to information, COVID-19 Taskforce in the Western Region is currently putting up the necessary measures in place to allay all fears before discharging the suspected victims to their various homes.
Meanwhile, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Western Region has increased to 9 with a call on all and sundry to adhere to President Akufo-Addo’s directives while wearing nose mask when stepping out of their houses.
However, the Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, in an effort to ensure that everybody becomes safe in the region has entreated Information Service Department, NCCE, the Media and all Community Information Centres to intensify public education on the precautionary measures against the virus to contain community spread.
He also directed the security agencies in the region to strictly enforce the restrictions including swift prosecution of persons who will violate the orders.
