Dampare gets massive support from Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has hinted of processes to confirm the Acting IGP, George Akuffo Dampare as the substantive Inspector General of Police.

Speaking at the Ghana police course 50 graduation ceremony at the Police training school at Tesano, president Akufo said his government is so far satisfied with the works of the Acting IGP, which he say, has received widespread commendation from Ghanaians.

“ I can not end without reiterating the support of government for the recent actions taken by the acting Inspector General of police , George Akufo-Dampare , which are eliciting strong backing from the population.

He has so far , vindicated my decision to repose trust in him to hold this high office. I’m confident that, once the necessary processes are completed, which I am sure will be soon , he will become our nation’s 23rd Inspector General of Police”

Dr. George Akufo Dampare was appointed by the president in July replace Mr James Oppong Buanuh as the Acting IGP.

COP Dr George Akuffo Dampare has served in the police administration for 27 years. He started as a Constable and has risen to the highest rank of Commissioner of Police.

The respected Police Officer has occupied many positions in the service including; Director General (Finance), Director General (Welfare), Director General (ICT), Commandant of the Police Command and Staff College, and Accra Region Police Commander.

He became a chartered accountant at the age of 25 while serving as a Police Constable and holds a PhD in Finance. He has been an Adjunct Lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and at the University Of Cape Coast in Ghana.

Amongst his credentials; George Akuffo Dampare (PhD) was a Special Assistant to the Regional Commander, United Nations Mission in Bosnia Herzegovina, Municipal Police Commander, Cape Coast, ADC to the Vice President of Ghana, Accountant/Finance Officer, Ghana Police Service and the Head of Police and Narcotics Desk at the Ministry of Interior.
