"Disregard virtual one-week celebration of Sir John today" – Family

Father William Boateng, brother of New Patriotic Party’s (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John has asked the general public to disregard reports of a virtual one-week celebration for the deceased.
This statement follows the release of artworks announcing the virtual one week commemoration of the demise of Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John.
The CEO of the Forestry Commission and former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John, passed on  Wednesday 1st July 2020 night.
Sir John reportedly died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Wednesday evening.
Speaking in an interview with Atinka FM’s AM Drive, Father William Boateng, said the family is yet to settle on a date to hold the one week celebration of the deceased.
Father William Boateng explained that the family will let the public know when the family sets a day to commemorate the 1 week of Sir John’s demise.
According to him, the family is very much aware that Sir John belonged to the political space and that the commemoration of the 1 week will be held in consultation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and government.
“I wish to thank Ghanaians for the love they have shown my family after the demise of my brother we are eternally grateful. We will however wish to state that the family of Sir John has not settled on a day for the commemoration of the one week. The family will sit today to deliberate on some issues but it is not open to the public. Our brother is a political person and so we will consult his party and keep all stakeholders updated”, he added.
He noted that although some friends and loved ones of Sir John might decide to commemorate the day, the family has no hand in any such gathering.
He asked the general public to disregard speculations surrounding the commemoration of the i=one week of the late The CEO of the Forestry Commission and former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John.
