Founder and leader of Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev. Dr. Christian Kwabena Andrew popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom has responded to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s recent lecture titled “Ghana’s Next Chapter: Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future.”
The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Wednesday, 7th February, 2024 revealed his vision to Ghanaians when voted as Ghana’s next President.
Dr Bawumia in his speech said an efficient system of governance will require even fewer ministers adding that he would have no more than 50 ministers and deputy ministers.
“Enhancing the role of the private sector along with fiscal and administrative decentralization, improving our systems and the way our institutions function will lead to greater efficiency; cutting waste and ensuring value for money in procurement. The move towards the private sector provision of many public services would create fiscal space of at least 3% of GDP. This represents a major paradigm shift.
“Additionally, an efficient system of governance will require even fewer ministers. Therefore I would have no more than 50 ministers and deputy ministers.”
The flagbearer also revealed that one of the most potent weapons against corruption is transparency adding that many corrupt activities are cash-based, he said.
However, reacting to the speech in an interview with Atinka Media Village’s reporter Vincent Kwofie, Rev. Christian Andrew described the speech as “73 pages of beautiful lies and deceit”.
He accused the vice president of rehashing old promises and lies, particularly highlighting inconsistencies in job creation figures.
