The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described the late Hon. Ernest Yaw Kumi, Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency, as a “dedicated public servant” following news of his sudden and untimely death.
In a statement issued by the Eastern Regional Executive Committee, the party expressed profound sorrow over the loss, emphasizing Hon. Kumi’s unwavering commitment to the development of Akwatia and the values of the NPP.
“This heartbreaking news has come as a great shock to the Party, the people of Akwatia, and the nation at large,” the statement said.
Popularly known as the “Akwatia Star Boy,” Hon. Kumi was widely respected for his tireless efforts to uplift his constituency and his active role in national discourse. His passing, the party noted, is a significant blow not only to the NPP but also to the people he faithfully served.
Evans Osei Yeboah Tsooboi, the NPP’s Eastern Regional Communication Officer, conveyed the party’s deepest condolences to Hon. Kumi’s family, traditional leaders, constituents, and the wider NPP family across the country.
“May the soul of our beloved brother and compatriot rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
Details of funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in due course.
