Eastern Region to get new hospital

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut the  sod for the construction of a new regional hospital to serve the people of the Eastern region.
The €70 million project will be under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, which will also be responsible for the project.
The new hospital will introduce  a four- storey “single block” compact building and residential facilities to  develop a functional, cohesive and efficient hospital complex with public open spaces to create an aesthetically pleasing environment for patients,medical staff and visitors.
The  project will be built in two phases. Phase one  includes 285 -bed facility which will expand to 600.
Again, the project will contain Out Patient Department, Inpatient department, Accident and Emergency Unit (ICU),Teaching Facilities, and Support services.
The project, which will be the first phase, will be undertaken by Ellipse Projects and Tylllium constructions will be sited on a 20 -acre land along the Koforidua – Akwadum stretch.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo expressed gratitude to the people of the Eastern region.
He reinstated his commitment to providing quality healthcare delivery for the people of the country.
According to him, the Eastern regional hospital is not part of the proposed 88 districts hospital.
He added that, the project is facilitated by the Stanbic Bank and the UK government.
He stressed that the regional hospital  forms part of the Ministry of Health’s long-term project (2019-2023) which will help bridge the equity gap of the access to healthcare services in ensuring sustainable financing for healthcare delivery protection and financing for the poor.
