President Nana Akufo-Addo will address  Ghanaians tonight as he outlines measures to tackle the current economic difficulties.

The President’s  address is expected to calm the nerves of some Ghanaians who have been battling economic hardships mainly due to high food prices and transportation cost.

The president’s move follows the demand for the removal of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta by some NPP MPs.

Last Tuesday, some members of the Majority Caucus in Parliament called for the dismissal of Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta, with immediate effect.

According to them, the decision is based on issues of lack of confidence and non-performance on the part of Minister Ofori Atta.

However, in a twist of events, President Akufo-Addo asked for more time for the embattled Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to conclude negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) before any talks of resignation.

Minister for information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has disclosed that Cabinet has wrapped a three day retreat “during which President Akufo-Addo has settled on key decisions aimed at responding strongly to the impact of the global economic challenges on Ghana”.
