Endorsement Saga: Grassroots calling for Mahama’s comeback – Nii Lante Vanderpuye

Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye , says the grassroot is mounting pressure on their respective National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament hence Mahama’s endorsement for a comeback in 2020.

About 94 National Democratic Congress Members (NDC) of Parliament have reportedly endorsed John Mahama for an election 2020 comeback ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.

The MPs, according to reports have signed documents declaring their support John Dramani Mahama to lead the Party in 2020.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo Constituency,  Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye explained that the decision to endorse Mahama’s candidature was as a result of similar “Mahama for 2020” reports which came from his constituency and that of other NDC MP’s.

He added that these MP’s decided to consolidate these reports and grant the desires of their constituents by endorsing their preferred candidate.

According to him, these constituents from the consolidated constituencies threatened not to vote for the NDC should their MP's fail to convince the former President John Dramani Mahama to contest election 2020.

“We are for the constituents and we will do what they want from us. If bringing Mahama to contest for election 2020 is what the constituents want from the party, then we will gladly bring Mahama”, he said.
