Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has declared his intention to contest for the NDC Flagbearership should former President John Dramani Mahama decide not to contest.
Nii Lante Vanderpuye made this statement after he reportedly coordinated some 94 National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament to endorse the candidature of former President John Dramani Mahama.
According to him, the move was necessitated from consolidated reports from the constituencies of some NDC MP’s.
The Law maker made this statement in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Wednesday August 1, 2018.
Asked what he makes of the other MP’s who have declared their support for other candidates, he stated that the NDC as a party has competent people like himself who can also contest the Flagbearership and in the long run contest for elections on the ticket of the NDC.
“We are so many and I am one of them, we are all qualified to contest the Flagbearership position in the NDC. What qualities does the others have that is missing in me? If John Mahama rescinds his decision to contest the Flagbearership position, I will”, he said.
