Fenerbahçe coach wants to appoint Andre Ayew as new captain

Fenerbache Coach Phillip Cocu wants to appoint Andre Ayew as the Club’s new captain.

Ayew seems to have shown great leadership qualities since joining the Turkish Club.

The Ghanaian international was signed on loan from English side Swansea City hence will be with the Super Lig side until the end of the season.

Having scored two goals since his arrival at the Club, the former West Ham United has already established himself in Cocu’s set up.

“I have one request, I want you to become the leader of the team. Everyone respects you,” Fotomac quoted Cocu as he told Ayew.

“You will play various offensive roles also on the field,”

Cocu’s comments could see first choice goalkeeper Volkan Demirel losing his role as the captain of the side.

Andre Ayew captained Ghana’s U20 team to win the 2009 FIFA World Youth Championship in Egypt.
