Former MPs pay tribute to Dzifa Attivor

A former Deputy Defence Minister, Major (rtd) Derek Oduro says he never commented on the bus branding saga involving Dzifa Attivor it the issue was being discussed by the public, including his own colleagues.

According to him, he never said anything because he had a cordial relationship with the Late Dzifa Attivor despite affiliating with separate parties.

His comments come after the demise of the Late Former Transport Minister.

Dzifa Attivor was a Ghanaian politician and businesswoman.

As a Former Transport Minister, she resigned over the controversial branding of 116 buses for the Metro Mass Bus Transit Company which cost GhȻ3.6million.

Born on February 22, 1956, Former Minister died on Monday, November 15, 2021.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu, Major (rtd) Derek Oduro said, “She and myself related very well. I feel sad that she is dead. It is very sad. Anytime we went to Parliament, she looked for me to greet me and she will say you are protecting us and so if you are not there we are also not there.”

He continued that,”When the bus branding saga came I never said anything about it because I was very cool with her. She was my friend so I never said anything about it.”

Major (rtd) Derek Oduro said when he heard that the Former Transport Minister had died, he wished it was not true, adding that God knows best.

“Even if someone has faults, when the person dies, we say of the good things about the person and she was someone who really did well in Parliament. We are all bereaved and I will urge the Ministry of Transport to support the family in these trying times,” he said.

For his part, a former Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, Mr Daniel Kosi Ashiamah said Dzifa Attivor honourably resigned over the bus branding saza, saying that the rest should emulate her action.

“She did something that for me was very honourable. When the issue of bus branding came, people were talking about it and she honourably resigned. She has taught the children that if something happens to you in future when you are holding a position, you have to step aside when everyone is talking about it. That is how every Minister should do when things are not going well,” he said.
