The office of the Special Prosecutor says it has commenced investigations into activities of corruption leveled against Minister of State in charge of Finance at the Office of the President, Charles Adu Boahen following the Galamsey economy documentary. By Anas Aremeyaw Anas
A statement signed by the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, and dated November 15, 2022, said the Office of the Special Prosecutor has commenced investigations into the actions of Charles Adu Boahen and any other person implicated in the investigative piece.

This comes after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo terminated the appointment of Charles Adu Boahen, Minister of State in charge of Finance at the Office of the President.
The termination of Adu Boahene’s appointment is in line with his involvement in corruption related activities in the latest documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas titled “Galamsey Economy.”
The documentary captured Charles Adu Boahen telling the Tiger Eye investigative team that the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, needs just a $200,000 token as an appearance fee and some positions by an investor for the Vice President’s siblings to get his backing and influence in establishing a business in Ghana.
This was when he was asked by the supposed businessmen on how an investor can get the attention of the Vice President and what must be given to him when finally in his presence.
“You mean, like appearance fees and stuff?” I mean he, himself (the Vice President), if you give him some (USD) 200,000 or something as a token, as thank you, appreciation, that’s fine. He’s not really, like that. “All he needs is to worry about his campaign money in 2020,” Charles Adu Boahen revealed.
The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, consequently terminated the appointment of Charles Adu Boahen, Minister of State in charge of Finance at the Office of the President.
“After being made aware of the allegations leveled against the Minister in the expose, “Galamsey Economy”, the President spoke to Mr Adu Boahene, after which he took the decision to terminate his appointment, and also to refer the matter to the special prosecutor for further investigations,” the statement from the Presidency read.
