The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the selection of 2,000 recruits as part of its ongoing nationwide recruitment exercise, marking the first of four batches scheduled for training.
In a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations at General Headquarters, Burma Camp, the military said selected candidates are to report to designated centres across all 16 regions on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 0900 hours to receive their appointment letters and prospectus.
Support for Affected Applicants
The Armed Forces encouraged applicants who were previously deferred due to curable medical conditions to seek treatment, assuring them they will be reconsidered at a later stage at no cost.
The first batch of recruits also includes 18 individuals who were injured during the El-Wak Stadium stampede last year, as well as five others sponsored by families of victims of the incident.
Regional Approach to Recruitment
GAF expressed appreciation to regional administrations for supporting this year’s decentralised recruitment process, which brought the exercise closer to applicants across the country in line with government policy.
The military noted that a strong pool of qualified candidates remains and assured those not selected in the first batch to remain calm, as additional selections will be made for subsequent batches and future recruitment exercises.
Special Consideration Under Review
The statement further indicated that a directive to facilitate recruitment for individuals from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region who assisted during last year’s military helicopter crash rescue operation is under consideration for the second batch of training.
The release was signed by Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, who urged all selected candidates to comply with the reporting instructions.
The Ghana Armed Forces said it remains committed to a transparent and inclusive recruitment process as it strengthens its ranks nationwide.
