Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) shines at WTPO awards 2018

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has been adjudged the best organisation for the ‘Best Use of Technology’ in the just ended World Trade Promotion Organisation (WTPO) Awards 2018 in Paris France after beating competition from Switzerland for this category of the awards.

GEPA’s flagship web platform, ‘the Market Hub’ was considered by the jury of the International Trade Center (ITC) as the best resource platform for the promotion of exportable products and services. The innovative platform, The Market Hub creates a seamless opportunity for suppliers and buyers of Non-Traditional Export (NTE) products and services from Ghana to trade or engage in online commerce.

At the close of the 2018 WTPO event in Paris France, Ghana was again announced as the host of the next edition of the WTPO Awards in 2020 under the auspices of the International Trade Center (ITC) in Accra.

Ms. Afua Asabea Asare, Chief Executive Officer of GEPA said, ‘We are excited with this recognition being our first since the inception of the awards in 2004 and particularly for the opportunity to host the next WTPO Awards in 2020. It will serve as a catalyst to project Ghana as an investment destination and improve our earnings from NTEs in support of government’s flagship agenda to build a Ghana Beyond Aid’.

“It remains our expectation that, the general export community in Ghana will seize the opportunity of the 2020 WTPO meeting to raise their own profile for our collective national good”, added.

The WTPO Conference is a biennial meeting of over 150 trade and investment promotion organisations around the world creating innovative openings to support the exporting communities.
