‘Ghana Is Back and Open for Business’ – Mahama

SONA: Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has declared that Ghana’s economic recovery is firmly underway, following what he described as years of “imprudence and reckless management” that triggered a severe cost-of-living crisis.

Delivering his State of the Nation Address in Parliament, the President acknowledged the “unimaginable hardship” endured by citizens but insisted that his administration has taken tough and necessary decisions to restore stability.

“I was clear from the outset that recovery would not come easily,” he said. “But I also promised to reset our economy and return us to a path of growth, progress and development.”

Mr. Mahama told the House that government chose “discipline over waste, reform over excuses and stability over speculation,” tightening expenditure controls, improving payables reporting and auditing 2024 commitments to restore credibility to public finances.

According to him, the measures are already yielding some of the most remarkable economic improvements in decades.

“As we approach our 69th Independence Anniversary, we do so with renewed hope,” he said. “Ghana is back, Ghana is working again and Ghana is open for business.”

The President added that the government’s reset agenda is gaining momentum and laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient and prosperous nation.
