Gwiraman SHS not responsible for death of student-GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has stated that the management of the Gwiraman Senior High School (SHS) in the Western Region is not responsible for the death of the SHS three student who died recently as published by some media houses.
The boy, Nathaniel Yankey died in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15th 2020 at the Essikado Hospital.
According news published earlier on some media platforms, mother of the 21-year-old was blaming the school for mishandling the boy, leading to his untimely death.
But denying the allegations, GES said the school did not mishandle the boy, explaining that he had left his hostel, which is outside the school and a private one for that matter, to his parent’s house when he felt unwell last Friday, adding that the school was notified.
It also explained that it was when the management of the school called on Wednesday morning to check on the boy that it was informed of his death.
However, the GES expressed its deepest condolence to the family, assuring parents that all efforts are being made to ensure the safety of all staff and students on its campuses.
Meanwhile, it has urged all media to properly check their facts well before publishing their stories in order not to create fear and panic among the public.
