The Ministry of Health Ghana has cautioned the public against spreading misinformation and unverified reports following the recent Ebola outbreak recorded in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

In a public alert, the ministry assured Ghanaians that no suspected or confirmed case of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) has been detected in the country despite confirmed and suspected cases reported in the two affected nations.

According to the statement, the government, in collaboration with international health partners, has activated precautionary measures nationwide to strengthen preparedness and emergency response systems.

The ministry warned that the circulation of false information could create unnecessary fear and panic among the public and urged citizens to rely only on official updates from health authorities and credible institutions.

It further disclosed that surveillance and screening activities at airports, seaports, and land borders have been intensified as part of efforts to prevent a possible outbreak in Ghana.

Health professionals across the country are also being trained and equipped to safely identify, isolate, and manage suspected Ebola cases if necessary.

The Ministry of Health added that public education and risk communication campaigns have been strengthened to increase awareness about the disease and preventive measures being implemented nationwide.

The public has also been encouraged to observe preventive measures such as regular handwashing, avoiding direct contact with bodily fluids of infected persons, and promptly reporting suspected symptoms to the nearest health facility.
