Highlife legend George Darko passes on

Highlife Legend, George Darko, has passed on .

The king of burger Highlife reportedly died on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

The songs of the legendary George Darko, who rose to fame in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, continue to rank among the most classic and timeless highlife compositions in Ghanaian music history.

The deceased artist, who went by the stool name Nana Apem Darko I, was recognized for his abilities as a guitarist, singer, composer, and songwriter. He also held the title of Tufuhene of Akropong.

His passing occurs soon after the death a few days ago of Kwabena Kwakye Kabobo, popularly known as K.K. Kabobo, another great Highlife artist.

Liver disease was the cause of K.K. Kabobo’s death at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
