Ho: Coconut seller struck by lightning; body abandoned at scene

A coconut seller is feared dead after he was struck by lightning at Ho on Monday, May 30, 2022 afternoon.

The young man, was said to be plying his trade under a mango tree, opposite the Regional office of ECG, when he was struck by lightning at about 4:00pm during a light rain.

Two other persons who were in close proximity with the victim, were also affected.

Eyewitnesses told the press that, personnel of the Ambulance Service who were called to the the scene conveyed the two other victims to the hospital, but left behind the coconut vendor.

Some grief-stricken bystanders said they were scared of touching the body, because of the superstitious nature of the incident.

As of the time of this report, the motionless body of the vendor was still at the scene, attracting attention from curious members of the public.

As at the Tuesday morning, the body was still lying down there without attention from the police or the ambulance service as Nogokpo claimed responsibility of the incident.

Legal practitioner, Richard Badombia, has been shot dead by some suspected armed robbers at Jirapa.

According to a Police report, “on May, 28 2022, Michael Badombia, accompanied by Gloria Badombia and Hilarious Badombia all of same address went to the Banda Nkwanta Police Post to report that they were on board a Hyundai Accent saloon car with registration number GN 9890-17, driven by Richard Badombia, now deceased together with a “Bull-Dog”, travelling from Accra to Jirapa”

But on reaching a section of the road between Banda Nkwanta and Nuoyiri communities, on the Bole-Bamboi highway, three armed men emerged from the bush and signalled them to stop and while slowing down, one of the armed men asked them if they were Policemen and immediately shot at Richard Badombia.

The Police reported that the victims said the vehicle then veered off the main road into the offside of the bush, hit a tree and came to a halt.

However, the armed men followed and tried to open the doors of the vehicle to have entry into same but the bull dog barked at them and they bolted.
