Gomoa Easter Festival

The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has called on investors and businesses to take advantage of emerging opportunities in Gomoa by investing in tourism, agriculture and industry.

Speaking at the launch of the Gomoa Easter Carnival at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Mr. Obeng said the festival is designed not only as a cultural celebration but also as a platform to attract investment and drive economic transformation in the area.

He explained that the carnival aims to draw millions of visitors to the Central Region, which would increase demand for hotels, restaurants, convention centres and other event facilities.

According to him, Gomoa is also blessed with fertile land and hardworking people who produce maize, rice, cassava, coconut and vegetables.

He therefore urged investors to support agro-processing ventures such as rice milling, coconut oil production, packaging and cold storage facilities to help add value to local produce and create jobs.

“This carnival is the marketing platform for industry. Our long-term goal is to drive industrialisation alongside tourism in Gomoa,” he said.

Mr. Obeng said the initiative seeks to build an ecosystem where tourism drives demand, agriculture supplies raw materials and industry creates employment.

He noted that the four-day carnival will feature a variety of cultural and entertainment activities, beginning with a welcome bonfire night at the Crown Forest Hotel.

The second day will include the official opening ceremony and the start of festival activities such as food and grill zones, fashion and beauty displays, and other attractions.

The third day, which is the flagship event, will feature a national masquerade parade with colourful carnival groups from across the country, street painting activities and a grand durbar of chiefs.

There will also be musical performances by several Ghanaian artistes as part of the celebrations.

The final day will feature performances by new-school artistes and a closing ceremony to mark the end of the festival.

Mr. Obeng invited Ghanaians, the diaspora and international visitors to participate in the event and explore investment opportunities in Gomoa.

He said the festival represents a major step towards transforming Gomoa into a vibrant tourism and industrial hub in the Central Region.
