I don’t understand why Dodowa road hasn’t been fixed – NPP Communicator

Mr. Kojo Boateng

The New Juaben North Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Kojo Boateng says he does not understand why the Dodowa road has not been fixed till date.

He observed that since the road was constructed in 1996, it has not seen any major development even though it is being used by more drivers now as compared to some years back.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ekourba Gyasi, Mr. Kojo Boateng said leaders must be held accountable and questioned over the development of their areas and roads, so that residents and or users will be relieved off traffic.

“Apart 1996, when J.J Rawlings constructed the Dodowa road, nothing has been done and I don’t understand,” he said.

He was of the belief that if that road is fixed, people can now fall on it when they want to “dodge” from Adenta, adding that people will then want to move to the place to build their houses and live there.

Mr. Kojo Boateng also noted that people were encroaching the lands, saying that if care is not taken, the government will end up paying compensation to encroachers when it decides to construct the road.

“Let us develop some and create other roads for citizens,” he said.

For the dualisation of the Accra-Kumasi road, Mr. Kojo Boateng said it was long overdue.

He said if Ghana decides to make the roads more like a commercial business, a lot of private investors were ready to invest in the infrastructure in order to solve road construction issues.

“If we do dual carriage from Accra to Kumasi, put exits on them and if the drivers have exit they have to pay, there are many people who are willing to do it,” he said.

“If you give it to a private investor and he says he wants to use 30 years to take his money, what are we using the roads for?” Mr. Kojo Boateng quizzed.
